MetastaSys - Analysis of Molecular Markers and Pathways in Cancer Cells and Microenvironment that Determine the Fate and Localization of Tumor Metastases

Welcome to the project

Primary tumors show distinct differences in the probability to metastasize into specific target organs depending on their organ of origin. The aim of MetastaSys was to improve the understanding of this diverging behavior through the analysis of molecular markers and pathways in cancer cells and their microenvironment, which govern the fate and localization of tumor metastases.

The project started in February 2013 and the end of the project was December 2016. It was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework ‘Systems Biology – e:bio‘.
